Read it, live it...

Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us."
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭MSG‬‬

So when we are having trouble with a decision, what should we do? Ask a friend? When we don't know if what we are doing is a sin or not, do we take a online survey?

When we are faced with decisions and directions in our life, maybe, just maybe, we should turn to God's word. Actually, we should always turn to God's word!

Read His word, ingrain it in your heart. If you don't understand it, re-read it in a different translation. It amazes me how reading in a different translation makes something click for me or shows me a different perspective.

God's word has all the answers for all the questions in life. Read it, live it, Be Blessed by it!

Live in the word...

"How can a young man stay pure? Only by living in the word of God and walking in its truth."
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:9‬ ‭TPT‬‬

How does an athlete stay in top shape? He works out daily, eats clean and avoids anything that would harm his body.

So how does a Christian stay pure? A daily walk with God, immersion into the word of God, avoiding anything that will lead them astray.

What do you listen too, what do you watch or read, who do you hang out with? Are those things pulling you from the life God chose for you?

Live in the word and walk in truth, so you can Be Blessed!

Let God invade your everything...

"So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Is God in everything you do? Your waking, sleeping, going to work? Or is your life filled with the world. Do you pay God any attention, throughout the day, after your mandatory 5 minute devotion?

When someone is really invoke in something or someone, it invades every part of their life. They talk about it constantly, think about it all the time, spend time with it. Is that God in your life, or something else.

Put God first, let Him invade everything and every moment of your life so you can Be Blessed!

Do what it says...

"But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves."
‭‭James‬ ‭1:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So overt the past 5-6 days we have looked at the 5 mandates that God has given men. Now what do we do with that?

We can read it and say: "That's a good idea" and move on with our lives. Or, we can do what God's word says!! Not just those 5 mandates but God's word in its entirety.

You see, actions speak louder than words. Live out the life that God set before you. Be the man of God that He has called you to be. Live His word so you can Be Blessed!

Love...

"Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do."
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:14‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The fifth mandate that God gives men is to love. We can be a great leader, courageous, strong in our faith and do amazing things, but if we don't do them out of love, what will it matter.

You see, love, reflects God and His love. People see God in other people. That is why love is the most important, God wants us to show His love to others.

Do all things in love, that's why God sent His son for you and me, out of love. Let love be your motivation and Be Blessed!

Be strong...

"He sang: "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence."
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭22:2-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Our fourth mandate, as men, is to be strong. No necessarily physically strong, but strong in our faith and fortitude. We must be strong enough to stand up for our beliefs and our family.

Where does that strength come from? As David says: "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior!" Our strength comes from our God! We must be close to Him, we must know Him, we must trust Him. We must have a close enough relationship with Him that we know, in our heart, that He is always there for us.

Be strong in the Lord, so you can Be Blessed!

Be courageous...

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.""
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As men of God, we are called to be courageous! In the face of fear, of opposition, of differing values, we must stand firm and be courageous.

We must not be afraid to stand up for our Christian and family values. Their us a battle ahead and we must be prepared to fight. But remember, the Heavenly Father has our back and is fighting those battles for us.

Be courageous and don't be discouraged. Fight the battle and Be Blessed!

Stand firm in your faith...

"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,"
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Most Christians know what they believe, but less can tell you why they believe it. For many it is because that is how they were raised, because their family believed it. But Why?

Why do you believe it? Because someone told you too? Blind faith is a great thing, but true believers must understand their why?

For me, my why is because I have studied His word and have seen His work in my life. I have spoken to my God and I have heard His voice. What is your why, dive deep with God so you can Be Blessed!

Stay alert...

"Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour."
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are to stay alert, be on guard. The devils lies behind every corner, every tweet, every email, late night meeting with someone other than your spouse, every click of the mouse and every change of the channel.

As men, we must be alert because satan is always trying to cause us to stumble and sin. The more he can acclimate us to the small sins, the much easier the big ones are.

We must guard our minds and hearts so that we can, Be Blessed!

Mandates for the man..

"Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love."
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:13-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As a recent society, the man has been belittled. What we see now as a man is not what God intended.

The majority of leader in the home, at work, in politics are men. What if these men chose to lead in a Godly way? What change could happen to our home, workplace, country and globally.

Recently I went through a devotional looking at Gods five mandate for a man. Men, dive into these mandates from 1 Cor. 16:13-14, with me, so we can Be Blessed!

New car smell...

"Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new."
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Continued sin for a Christian is like buying a new car and throwing bags of leaking garbage in the back seat. It just stinks the place up.

When Christ died for our sin and we accepted Him as our savior, we became a new person! Don't stink it up with garbage (sin)!

Hold yourself to a higher standard. Put in measures to keep sin out of your life. Keep that new car smell so you can Be Blessed!

Continue to sin...

'What a terrible thought! We have died to sin once and for all, as a dead man passes away from this life. So how could we live under sin's rule a moment longer? So what do we do, then? Do we persist in sin so that God's kindness and grace will increase? ' Romans 6:1-2
So what about grace? Just because we are Christians, does that mean that we can sin freely, just because we are forgiven? Remember, that Christ died for our sins, and our Heavenly Father looked the other way and allowed Jesus to bear that sin for us. And because He bore our sin, He had to die for our sin. He died in OUR PLACE! Don't let His death be in vain.

When we continue to knowingly sin, we are basically telling Jesus: "I don't care that you died for me. I am going to keep doing what I want because I know I am forgiven. " What a slap in the face to Jesus.

Grace is good, and I am thankful for God's grace. But obedience is better! Are you so much prouder and happier when you child obeys you vs when they don't and you have to give them some grace and forgiveness?

So let's not let Christ sacrifice be in vain. Let's die to sin with Him and live an obedient life, so we can Be Blessed!

Don’t despise the word...

"Why, then, have you despised the word of the Lord and done this horrible deed?"
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

For those of us who grew up in church, we know God's word, yet we continue to sin. Why do we do that? Do we despise God's word? I don't think so, I believe we have become a culture of "I want what I want!" A selfish culture, thinking of no one but ourselves.

We look to fulfill our lives with whatever sin feels good at the moment. Instead of waiting in the blessings that God has in store for us.

Turn from your sin, wait on the Lord, so you can, Be Blessed!

You are the man!

"Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man!"
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭12:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let's not focus on David today, but Nathan. David's sin was great and he had destroyed lives and sinned against the Lord, but he didn't realize it. He was blinded by his sin. Nathan called him out!!

Nathan was his accountability partner. He showed David what he had done wrong. Everyone needs someone in their life to hold them accountable. And if you don't have one, God provides the Holy Spirit, that little voice in the back of your head that says: "Don't do that!"

Being accountable for our actions is important. God hates the sin but loves the sinner. If we admit to our sins, God forgives us and let's us live a life where we can Be Blessed!

Where your supposed to be...

"In the spring of the year, when kings normally go out to war, David sent Joab and the Israelite army to fight the Ammonites. They destroyed the Ammonite army and laid siege to the city of Rabbah. However, David stayed behind in Jerusalem."
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We all know the story of David and Bathsheba David committed adultery and eventually, murder. But how did it all begin? David was not where he was supposed to be. He was supposed to be at war with his armies, but he stayed behind.

This led down a path of destruction, that destroyed families and lives and led to God being very displeased with David.

How many times have we fallen into sin because we were not where we were supposed to be? That dark part of the internet, that smokey bar with the boys, that business trip with someone other than your spouse.

Make sure you are where your supposed to be, and have a reliable Christian friend hold you accountable. If you are where God wants you to be, you will Be Blessed!

Love...

"And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength."
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Have you every loved something or someone so much that you physically hurt when your apart? Maybe a spouse, a child, a beloved pet, or even chocolate? JK

But you would do anything for that person that you love so much. For me, it is my wife, I would move heaven and earth, if I could, for her.

God's love for us is like that x 1000s! He loved us so much that He gave His only Son for us. All He is seeking is our love in return.

Do you love God like that, maybe we should so we can Be Blessed!
