"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
Do you remember when your life changed? Maybe you graduated college and started your first "big boy" job. Maybe you found that special someone and got into a committed relationship. Maybe you got married, had kids, man oh man did your life ever change.
As we grow and mature our life changes. We have different outlooks, more experience, different priorities. But one thing is certain, change is inevitable.
When we become one of Gods children, our life changes. We must put off our old sinful self and live for him. As a matter of fact, if we truly love Him, we want to change. We want to be a different person that pleases God because we love Him.
What have you retained from your old sinful life that you need to change? How can we help you and pray for you today?
Change for the good and become a new person.

Gods mighty weapons... wow
"We use God's mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments."
2 Corinthians 10:4 NLT
I had to read this verse several times to let it sink in. Human reasoning and the enemies false arguments can destroy us. The enemy can tell you you are worthless, not good enough, not loved. And our human minds can start to believe those lies.
We need to use our Godly weapons against the enemy's attacks. Specifically, God word, the sword of the spirit. The more we read and learn Gods word, the less and less that the enemy's attacks can harm us, for we know the truth.
Fill you mind and spirit with God's word daily. You will be better able to fight off the enemy's attacks.
Be Blessed!

Guard your speech...
"Guard your speech. Forsake obscenities and worthless insults; these are nonsensical words that bring disgrace and are unnecessary. Instead, let worship fill your heart and spill out in your words."
Ephesians 5:4 TPT
How many times to do we fall into the trap of letting our tongue get out of control? I know it can happen to me very easily. Your sitting around, joking at work, telling stories and your tongue just elaborates with obscenities. Now I could tell the same story without all that garbage, but somehow I let my tongue take over.
What we take in our minds usually spills out through our tongue. Lately I have been trying to make it a habit of filling my house with praise music, change the channel when the TV is full of obscenities or walk away when that dirty joke is being told. I don't always succeed but I strive to overcome.
Let's be men of honor and integrity, guard our speech and let worship fill our hearts!

A new person...
"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
Are you a relatively new Christian or are you struggling with something from your past? As an older Christian, does Satan still bring up your past to try and drag you down? Does he tell you that your not worthy?
Well take joy in the fact that Christ died for your sins!! He has wiped them clean with His blood!! And if you asked Him about them, He wouldn't remember, you have been forgiven. You are Worthy! You are a child of the King!
Don't let the enemy drag you down, stand firm in the faith that you belong to Christ and a new life has begun!! Live it to its fullest!!

Guard your heart...
"Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life."
Proverbs 4:23 NLT
What we hold in our heart determines who we are. If we hold bitterness and hate. We will be an awful person to be around.
If we hold joy, kindness and love; that's the guy I want to hang out with. We can always put on a good front and hide what we hold in our hearts. But God knows your heart, and other will too, eventually.
Do you guard your heart? What do you hold dear? Hold the things of God in your heart, and let him guide your life.
Be Blessed!

Integrity...
"Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord."
Psalms 119:1 NLT
Integrity is defined as: the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. I have also always heard it defined as: doing the right thing even when no one is around.
Now it's easy to do the right thing when people are watching. But what about when your alone. Up late on the computer or your phone. In the supply room at work by yourself. Do you still do the right thing during those times?
When we follow Gods instructions we ALWAYS want to do the right thing. Not out of fear that God sees us and will punish us, but because we want to please our Heavenly Father!
Are you a man of true integrity? If not, how can we pray with you today? You Father above wants you to do the right thing because He loves you!!

Run your race...
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne."
Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
The race of life is hard, even very difficult at times. Temptations are all around us, life and the enemy tries to draw us down many different paths.
But just like a runner, we must stay focused on what is ahead, we must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. The world is watching how the Christian man acts! We must throw off all sin and endure what life throws at us with integrity, honor and love. Christ endured it all for us, we must remember that and keep pushing and live for him!
Will you be a man of honor, will you be a man that runs his race well? Keep your eyes fixed on the Savior, he is waiting at the finish line for you!! To wrap you in His arms and to say "well done!!"

Idols....
""You must not have any other god but me. "You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea.
But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands."
Deuteronomy 5:7-8, 10 NLT
Idols and other gods can be anything, they can be money, social media, work, a relationship, just about anything that you put before God. Our God is a jealous God, he wants to spend time with you. He wants a relationship with you.
And like Deut 5:10 says, he will lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations in those who love him. Just like earthly relationships the more we put into it, the more we get out of it. God wants you to spend time with him.
So take some time this week away from our earthly idols and spend that time with God. You will be greatly loved and rewarded for that time with Him!!
Be Blessed!

We are all heirs...
"In Christ's family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, since you are Christ's family, then you are Abraham's famous "descendant," heirs according to the covenant promises."
Galatians 3:28-29 MSG
In today's political/ religious/sexual climate, most of us take on the us vs them mentally. I was raised in the conservative south with Christian values that I hold true today so I don't always make 'friend' in today's climate. But I should always treat others with respect and love.
One thing that is difficult for me and makes me take pause is that I have to remind myself that we are ALL God's creatures, no matter what are particularly views on any particular subject. We are all equal heirs to God's grace and mercy. I may not agree with the other person but God loves them as much as he loves me.
I have to remember that if I were the only person to ever live on this earth, God would have still sent His Son Jesus to die for just me. AND if that particular: democrat, republican, rapist, terrorist, or differently sexually oriented person were the only person to live on earth, God would have still sent His Son to die for them as well.
Among us we are all equal, let's start treating each other the way God sees us and just love one another.

Discipline...
"No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way."
Hebrews 12:11 NLT
I don't know many people who just live going to the gym when they first start. It takes discipline, because the rewards will be worth it.
Now that goes for anything, experts say it takes 21 days to create a habit. 21 days at the gym, 21 days of making the bed, 21 days of eating healthy, 21 days of prayer, 21 days of spending time in Gods word!
When we commit ourselves to God, it becomes second nature, just like the gym or making healthy food choices. If you make that commitment to God, you will see your focus changes. You begin to enjoy and look forward to your prayer and quiet time with God. You begin to ask God about the simple things and talk to him like he is a friend.
What may start out as discipline, will end in a great relationship with your Heavenly Father! Can you commit to him today? Only 20 more to go...

Raised in strength...
"Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength."
1 Corinthians 15:43 NLT
I have struggled with physical limitations since birth. My heart defect has always tried to limit me in whatever I do. But only when I allow the enemy to tell me that I have limits.
And as I have been praying recently for physical healing in my sons body, I am reminded that God has no limits. These earthly bodies were only meant as a temporary vessels. One day our bodies will be raised in glory and in strength and we shall live in eternity in a new body, perfect in every way.
So why is anyone give a physical affliction, maybe it is so we can rely solely on God for all our needs. Maybe it is so we can be a witness to how great our God is and that he helps us overcome daily. All in all, God knows what he is doing, trust his plan, and realize, better things are coming.

Don’t worry...
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done."
Philippians 4:6 NLT
So this is a big one for me personally. I can be a worrier. Especially when I allow the enemy to feed into me and fill me with lies.
I am a fix it guy, and if I can't fix it, then I worry about it. I have to tell myself that worrying is not of God.
So in the time I worry about my family, my finances or whatever it may be, I have to remember that God has always provided and will always provide for all my needs.
He will heal my family, he will guide my path and he will always prevail! I just need to trust in him and stop worrying.

Temptations...
"The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure."
1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT
What temptations are you experiencing today? Maybe it's pornography, financial indiscretion, alcohol abuse.
Remember, God didn't say we will never be tempted, but he will always provide a way out. If you need help with your temptations rely on your brother in Christ for support. Or use any means available, I personally use a website blocker to prevent me from stumbling in anything inappropriate on my phone.
God always provides relief from those temptations. He is our ultimate provider.

You got a friend in me!!
"A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need."
Proverbs 17:17 NLT
I woke up tonight with a message on my phone from a friend. Not only had he been praying for a situation in my life but he had also shared with other prayer warriors and they were lifting me up in prayer.
Talk about a blessing!! Proverbs tells us that a friend is always loyal. As God's children that is what we are called to do. Be friends with one another, lift each other up. Be there when one is in need.
Like Buzz and Woody said in "Toy Story"; "You've got a friend in me!"
If you need prayer today, let the group know. We are here to lift each other up! And thank you for lifting me up!
Be Blessed!

Tough week...
It has been a tough week. Tyler has had his 3rd shoulder surgery, and now it is infected. He has received a PICC line and is on IV antibiotics. I am not sure how God gave up his only Son for us, but as I worry and pray about my son, I know that I could never do that.
Tyler has turned out to be a great young man, and Gracie is the best daughter in law that parents could ever ask for. We have been blessed by those too. We are very proud of them.
But I worry about his shoulder, this is his second wound vac, and now it is infected. It came back positive for three different bacteria. But I must put my faith in God that we are now on the correct antibiotics and given time, his shoulder will heal.
It is February now, my daughter Heather has a birthday at the end of this month. We have not spoken to Heather since November 2016.
I miss her! She was a staple at the house, always coming over after work, helping with supper and doing things with us. I miss her company, I miss my daughter.
I miss the boys tremendously!! William and Jayson. William is 12 now and all grown up. Jayson is 7 and still a firecracker from what I hear. I have missed nearly 4 years of their lives. Oh what I wouldn't give to have that time back.
So to Heather, William and Jayson: Poppa loves you with all his heart!
Heather, I hope that you find it in your heart one day to forgive your Mom and myself. We are truly sorry what happened between us. Please forgive us.
William, I hope that your mind is full of dinosaurs and all kinds of crazy fact. I wish I was there to hear you talk about all the things that interest you. I love you to pluto and back!!
Jayson, my little best friend, I miss you more than words can explain. I hope you are playing hard and growing fast. I wish I could just sit and watch you play ball or ride a skateboard with you. I love you THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSS much!
Heavenly father, I pray that you heal my family. I pray that you heal Tyler's shoulder. I pray that you soften Heather's heart and that she can some day chose to forgive us. I pray that you give William and Jayson a hug from Poppa and Mimi and let them know that they are not forgotten.
Be Blessed!

Do not lose heart...
"He will say to them, 'Listen to me, all you men of Israel! Do not be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies today! Do not lose heart or panic or tremble before them. For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!'"
Deuteronomy 20:3-4 NLT
Have you ever lost heart, ever been so downtrodden that you can't see the light of day. Feel like the world is against you?
As humans it is very difficult to pull yourself out of the muck and mire. We need a hand, the Lord our God will go before us! He will fight against your enemies, he will life you up and give you victory!
If your down today, call upon the Lord. Let others know so they may lift you up in prayer.

He has your back...
"What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?"
Romans 8:31 NLT
You ever have that friend that always has your back? That buddy that stands by your side no matter what? I have had the privilege of having a few of those in my life through the years.
But what about during your darkest times? During your depression and your struggles with things that you are ashamed to share with that earthly friend?
We take trust in this...God has your back!! No matter what, God is for us, so who can be against us! Turn to him, he will help you through those times and fight for you!

A time for war!
"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace."
Ecclesiastes 3:1, 8 NLT
Are you in a season of depression, anxiety, physical ailment, marriage problems, financial issues? So many Christians sit and belly ache about their situation. And then do...nothing!
These are the time for WAR! War with powers and principalities, war with the enemy. Rise up Christians, put on the Full Armor of God! And battle like your life depended on it!
But to rise up, we must first began in a place of humility...on our knees. If we humbly come before him, he will help us put on that armor and he will stand before us as we battle through whatever season we are in.
Allow God to lead you into war! He will guide you and you WILL overcome!!

Run like your life depended on it....
"Don't you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize."
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 NLT
I have never understood people who run...for fun!! Is something chasing them? Where is the fire? But people who run, train to win!!
We run this race called life. We run from the enemies attacks, we run to win at life and eternity! We run for our lives and our families lives!
Are we running a good race? Are we doing what we can to make sure our family and those around us and as many people as we can reach go to heaven and have an eternal reward?
Run like your life and soul, depends upon it!

Pray for healing..
"For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,' says the Lord"
Jeremiah 30:17a NKJV
My son is having to have a third shoulder surgery tomorrow for an infected shoulder. My human side is upset and mad that it gotten this bad. My god side says to Trust in the Lord.
Having a son, I could never be as God, I could never give up my son for someone else. And I would rather take his pain and infection upon my own self than see him go through this. How much more does our God love us that he "Gave his only son" for us. We are not worthy.
Requesting prayer tonight for my son, Tyler and that God will bring his word to life and heal all of his wounds! And to give this old Dad a little faith for tomorrow.
Be Blessed!

Give and you will receive..
"Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. ""
Luke 6:38 NLT
I thought about this and my experience yesterday with Luke, the homeless man whom I shared a backpack and lunch with.
The giving of our time and resources for the majority of us is not a sacrifice. We live in the wealthiest country on earth. But man, what a blessing it can be, not only to those who receive but to those who give.
God calls us to the widowed, the orphans, the homeless, those less fortunate than ourselves. Weather it is helping to hang doors at a single moms house, or feeding the homeless or sitting and listening to a someone that just needs a friend. God called us to live beyond ourselves!!
Trust me, what you receive back will be much greater than you ever gave!
Be Blessed!

Through the storm...
"" Lord, help!" they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor!"
Psalms 107:28-30 NLT
As we survived the storm last night, we had a little fence damage, but it could have been much worse. God was our protector.
But as we face the storms of life, we think, 'Is God with me?'. The short answer, if we cry "Lord, help!" As David did in the Psalms, our Lord is faithful to calm the storms.
He will bring you back to safe harbors, replenish and refresh your spirit. What storm of life are you going through today? Have you called upon the Lord? Depend upon Him!
Be Blessed!

Love one another...
"We love each other because he loved us first."
1 John 4:19 NLT
Do you have that co-worker, neighbor or guy at the gym who is just hard to love? That person that just grated on your nerves. The one you just can't stand to be around.
I am sure we all do, but God loves them just as much as he loves you. He sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross for them as much as he did you.
Why should we love that person? Because God loves us, and because we are Christians we need to show Christ love through us. So take a minute to say Hi to that person, to ask how their day is, or give them a hand with something. You never know what they are going through and you may be the only source of Christ love that they see!
Be Blessed!

Love of God..
"But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness."
Psalms 86:15 NLT
Recently, Pastor Chris compared the love of God to a good dog. Now I am a dog guy, so I can relate. If I have just walked out to the mailbox for 5 mins, or I have been gone all day or for a week, my dogs are EXCITED to see me!!
I come home and they are wagging their tail, barking with joy and jumping all over me. They have unfailing love and faithfulness to me!
That is how God is, he loves his children!! Every day, every minute! He wants to be near you and spend time with you. And when you have been gone for a while, he is not mad, he is even more excited to see you again!
Maybe we should be more like our K9 friends and treat God like that! Love him unconditionally and be always faithful! Just get excited to spend time with our Heavenly Father!
Be Blessed!

A special friend...
"He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you."
John 14:17 NLT
Anybody ever have that special friend? That buddy that know your every thought, that your in sync with, that gives you great advise...all the time. I hope we have all gotten to experience that kind of friendship sometime in our lives.
When Jesus left this earthly world, he sent us a friend like that. He sent the Holy Spirit! A friend, a counselor, that guy who leads us into the truth. He knows us and hopefully we know him.
When you need that friend, he is always there, with you wherever you go. My prayer is that you rely on the Holy Spirit to guide your day, your decisions and actions, to be that friend you need in times of trouble.
Be Blessed!

Even God took a break..
"It is a permanent sign of my covenant with the people of Israel. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day he stopped working and was refreshed.'""
Exodus 31:17 NLT
So even God took a break. He rested and was refreshed. So in today's fast paced world, we go non-stop, 24-7.
The markets never close, business never stops, work emails come straight to our phones. We never have "downtime".
Sunday is what most consider the sabbath. But really it can be any day that you set aside the world, spend some time with God, sit and listen and let him refresh you.
Hope you find some time this week to take a "Sabbath" and let God refresh you!
