Today is a tough day!! We drive to Tuscaloosa today to start our work week back. The whole drive all I could think of was my grandson Jayson. I miss him so severely and so desperately that I can't breath. My chest is tight, my lungs will not expand, my soul cries!! I miss that little boy more than my life itself.
I wish my daughters would forgive us. I wish our family was back together. Today is Monday, we used to have a family meal together on Monday's. Oh how I wish they would walk through that door and ask "Poppa, what's got supper!!" What I would give to hear those two little boys voices.
I am so sorry for everything that happened. I wish I could change it. But it has been 9 months!!! Please forgive me and let's be a family again. What do I need to do for forgiveness??
Jayson, Poppa loves you and miss you!! Please don't forget me!!
I love you to the moon and back!!
Poppa
At the Kitchen Table... is a simple blog about life, through its ups and downs and recently my journey to become closer to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ as I study His word 'at the kitchen table.' Hope you enjoy my thoughts.

Over half way there...
Well, it has been a while since I have posted anything. But Lynn and I are over half way into our first travel assignment. We have made some new friends, had some new adventures and enjoyed out time here.
We really love to go out to eat, so we always search for the off the wall, local places to eat where the food is good, but out of the typical tourist track. Our first adventure was the original Dreamland BBQ restaurant, not the franchise stores. This place was a small hole in the wall set back in a trailer park on a local road. A red block building welcomed us and a large wooden, multi lock door was the entrance.
Inside was a run down bar with the smell of fresh ribs cooking. Now at the original Dreamland, they only serve two things, ribs and smoke sausage, because that is how they started out. We were expecting baby back ribs, so we ordered a whole rack to split. Well low and behold, out comes a WHOLE cows rack of ribs, we ate for about an hour and never made a dent in the thing. Needless to say, we took ribs home for left overs for the next several days.
On our next day off, we headed to Nick's in the Sticks!! And we it says in the stick, it surely was. Again, we pull up to a block building on a county road, I believe it was supposed to be red, but it was faded pink. There is a front porch where people are waiting and enjoying a beer and the famous Nicademus drink. It is always a good sign when there is a line for food.
We walk inside and the who restaurant was just as big as my living room. Tables placed just about anywhere you could put them. The floor was dingy and sticky, and dollar bills were stapled all over the ceiling. A "waiter" in jeans and a t-shirt said, "y'all come on over here and sit down." The menu was limited, steaks, potatoes, fries and onion rings with a salad to boot.
Lynn ordered the ribeye and I ordered the hamburger steak. Our drinks were brought out in a souvenir red solo cup, that you could keep. LOL! Our meal came out on the old metal plate with the black plastic bottom, it reminded me of the old Bonanza plates. Our salads came out with a trio of dressings in cups that were shared from table to table.
All this being said, this was one of the best steaks Lynn has had in a while, and my hamburger steak was excellent. The "waiter" was supper nice and the crowd was happy!! This place is a definite winner!!
We have been to a few other places, the Brass Tap is a definite winner. DePalmas had some great Italian food, the City Café makes a heck of a breakfast on a budget and the Metro Diner, well that experience needs a whole separate post. Needless to say, It ROCKED!!
Missing my babies, until next time!
