"The seed is God's word."
Luke 8:11 NLT
A seed is a plants way of reproduction. It is placed in the ground. It is nurtured and grows and eventually produces good fruit.
God's word is that seed in our lives. We need to be planting God's word in our hearts and minds daily. We need to nurture it and allow it to grow. It will produce good fruit!
Of all the things we can ingest into our minds these days: social media, fake news, politics, games, porn, or just bad relationships; we should chose to put good seed in to choke out the bad.
You see, every year, I "overseed" my yard with new "good" grass seed. As that seed grows it chokes out all the weeds and produces a beautiful lawn.
Are you "overseeding" your heart and mind with God's word? If you do, it will eventually choke out the bad!
Be Blessed!
At the Kitchen Table... is a simple blog about life, through its ups and downs and recently my journey to become closer to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ as I study His word 'at the kitchen table.' Hope you enjoy my thoughts.

Got a question?
"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT
Got a question...it's got the answers. God provided his word to us to lead us and guide us. To show us right from wrong, to give us strength and encouragement and to prepare us for what lies ahead.
I once's learned as a child that the B.I.B.L.E. was an acronym. Or at least the title: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
That is so true, God provides his word to give us basic instructions. So many times I have been struggling with something and I just sit down and read his word and talk too my Heavenly Father. He will always point me in the right direction.
So if your struggling in life, wondering what to do or where to go? Open Gods instruction manual. His word never fails!!

Never stop praying...
"Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT
Never stop praying...wow, what a simple concept. Pray shouldn't be some holier than thou, grandiose event; it should be a simple conversation with your Heavenly Father.
He already knows all your needs, and has promised to take care of you. What he wants is time with you. For you to talk to him, share your thoughts and fears, your dreams and wishes. Lift up your praise to him. Just...talk to him.
Easy as a simple conversation with your spouse or a close friend. God wants an intimate relationship with YOU. Pray from the time your feet hit the floor, in the morning until your eyes close at night.
Relationships grow the more time you spend with each other. How much time have you spent with your Heavenly Father today?
Be Blessed!

Live...because He died!
"He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed."
1 Peter 2:24 NLT
Do you sometimes feel unworthy? Feel ashamed of your sin? Like you can't make a difference?
Peter tells us that Christ carried ALL of our sins to the cross! Not just the little ones, not just the ones that no one knows about, but ALL of our sins!! Christ did this so we could be free from sin, sin can no longer hold us back. Can no longer drag us down!
We are free! Free to live for what us right, free to live for truth, free to live in Him! By His wounds, we are healed!
The devil has no hold upon us, Christ has set us free!
Be Blessed!

An ambassador...
"So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, "Come back to God!""
2 Corinthians 5:20 NLT
An ambassador is: "a person who acts as a representative"
Are we "acting" as God's ambassador? As Christians, we should be just that, a representative of God, of his love, his kindness and goodness to others.
Let others see God through you, no matter what you do. As we head back to our normal schedules this week let us be sure that the world can really see who we represent.

Prince of peace!!
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6 NIV
Isaiah's prophecy tells of the birth of Jesus. The reason we celebrate Christmas!
Not only did He come to save us from our sins, but he came to be a Wonderful Counselor, a Mighty God, an Everlasting Father, and a Prince of Peace.
No matter what your going through this season, allow God to be your counselor, your father, and to bring you peace.
Take a moment during all the food, festivals, presents and gatherings to stop and thank God for who He is and who He promised to be to you, if you will allow him.
Be Blessed and Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve!
So today is Christmas Eve, many emotions are running through my head.
We did Christmas with our family this past saturday. Lisa, Zach, Kaleigh, Hayden, Tyler, Gracie, Nana Pat and Mister Butch were here, along with all our fur babies, Isaac, Izzy and Tuck.
Overall we had a good day, though the day after wasn't the best, Kaleigh decided to spread her stomach virus to Hayden, Zach and myself. Lynn also got the upper respiratory crude.
We both slept all day Monday to try and recover from the crude. Lynn and I felt better today but not the greatest. We had to miss Christmas at Nana's due to being sick. That was very disappointing. Family is important and I hate we had to miss it.
Then the emotions kicked in, this is the third Christmas we have not been able to see Heather, William and Jayson.
We miss them so much! There will always be a hole in our heart that longs for them. No matter what may have cause this separation or the word's that were said, we still love them all. We pray daily for reconciliation of our family. We pray daily for William and Jayson to know that Mimi and Poppa love them very much.
So to try and hide all these emotions, we work. The ED never closes, so we come to work and try and make a difference in someone's life.
To everyone out there. Merry Christmas! We hope God shows up BIG in your life this season.
Be Blessed!

Feeling overwhelmed...
"O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety,"
Psalms 61:1-2 NLT
When you are overwhelmed, who do you rely upon? Do you dive into your work, exercise or the ice cream bucket.
This time of year can be overwhelming for so many. Remember God is here, he is with you. He will be your rock of safety. Call upon him, he will hide you in the cleft of the rock.
Their is nothing too overwhelming for our God!!

I can never escape from your spirit!
"I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me."
Psalms 139:7-10 NLT
Gods spirit is always with us, no matter where we go. We can't escape from him, we can run but as his child, he is still there. His love surrounds us and strength supports us.
When we feel afraid and alone, just be still and listen. He is there, right beside you, and when it gets tough and you look around and can't see him, that's because he is carrying you.
Don't give up hope in whatever is bothering you today. God is with you!

Stand!!
"Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil."
Ephesians 6:11 NLT
When life's trials hit us, how do we respond? Do we fall and cave to society? Or do we stand firm in our faith?
Life in today's world is hard. We try to live out our faith and at the same time not offend anyone. But should we back down from our faith because of what the world says.
Put on the full armor of God and when all else fails, STAND! Stand strong in your faith, God will do the rest and he will help you overcome!
Be Blessed!

Christmas is coming!
Over the years Christmas has had its ups and downs.
As a child growing up in Bristol, TN, Christmas was wonderful. Lots of food, family and fun! Driving around in my dad's Honda, looking at Christmas lights in the snow was one of my favorite memories.
Then as I became older and got into the medical field, Christmas became difficult. A retirement home fire killing several elderly people. Loss of a child on Christmas Eve, and numerous other bad memories.
Then as I grew and had children the fun came back. Seeing their eyes and making their dreams come true.
Later in life grand children came. Man I can't explain how fun that was. But now I struggle with the fading memory of William and Jayson. During this time of year my heart hurts. The pain is real, and I think, will God every allow my family to be healed? Will I ever see them again?
I try to focus on the good. This weekend Kaleigh and Hayden will come down to see us. Mom and Dad will be here. Lisa and Zach, Tyler and Gracie! I know I should be happy for what I have, but I sure do miss those boys.
God has blessed Lucy and I this year. A new home, a great church, wonderful jobs and good health.
Lord, allow me to focus on what you have given me, bless those that are missing and help me to remember that you are in charge! -Amen

Be different!
"See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don't recognize that we are God's children because they don't know him."
1 John 3:1 NLT
Do your friends, co workers or strangers on the street look at you different? They should! They should see something different in you, they should see God.
Are you influencing for good, are you showing love? We should want people to look at us and say: "I want what he has!"
Leading others to Christ is not about be able to preach some big message or articulate the scriptures from the original Hebrew. It's about being a Godly example of love and compassion in everything we do.
Do your part in leading a Godly life, God will open that door and others will see what you have and desire to know Christ!
Be different, be blessed!

Every tear!
""That is why they stand in front of God's throne and serve him day and night in his Temple. And he who sits on the throne will give them shelter. They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun. For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.""
Revelation 7:15-17 NLT
Are you going through something now that is bringing you down? Do you feel like there is no resolution?
Have no fear, through we go through trials and tribulations here on earth. Our God will overcome! Good news: I've read the back of the book, WE WIN! Satan is defeated and God will wipe away every tear!
Have faith and stand firm in whatever your going through!
Be blessed!

God is Love!
"But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love."
1 John 4:8 NLT
Who do we need to show love to today? A friend, family, neighbors....maybe our spouse? The easiest way to show God's love is to love others.
Maybe that is as simple as sending a text, making a call, bringing a coffee or just taking a moment to say "I Love You!"
Our time here on earth is short. Make sure your legacy is love. Make sure all those people in your life know that you truly care about them and love them!!
Love you all brothers!

Rejoice and be glad!
"This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalms 118:24 NLT
What does God have in store for you today? Maybe your winding down your day, or just waking up, like me; God has a plan and a purpose for THIS day!
Will you rejoice and be glad, will you make the most of it, or will you let the enemy drag you down?

Feeling Abandoned
"The Lord will not abandon his people, because that would dishonor his great name. For it has pleased the Lord to make you his very own people."
1 Samuel 12:22 NLT
Sometimes during this holiday season, we feel abandoned because of our failed relationships. Maybe with family, friends or co-workers. We feel alone, remember God will never abandon you. He has made you his son, adopted you into his family! He will NEVER leave you or forsake you! Abide under his wings today knowing that our God loves you!
Be Blessed!
